Home - About Us - Our Mission and Beliefs
We exist to welcome all people to experience God and be transformed by the Spirit into disciples of Jesus Christ.
Vision Community Church began in 2001 as a faith community
committed to reaching new followers of Jesus, many of whom had given up on church. We’re
exploring what it means to follow Jesus in this particular time and
place.
Our Worship
On Sunday mornings you will encounter our radical hospitality and be welcomed with coffee and a bagel. Our celebrations are casual, yet a time when you can experience God through all your senses. Our message is deep, yet accessible. We use music and the creative arts to explore God’s message. Each week, we celebrate communion and everyone seeking to be at peace with God and their neighbor through Jesus Christ is welcome at the table.
Our Beliefs
We believe in the essentials all Christians hold true as expressed in historic Christian creeds, such as the Apostle’s Creed:
- I believe in God the Father Almighty,
- Maker of heaven and earth:
- And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
- Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
- Born of the Virgin Mary,
- Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
- Was crucified, dead, and buried:
- He descended into hell;
- The third day he rose again from the dead;
- He ascended into heaven,
- And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
- From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
- I believe in the Holy Ghost;
- The holy Catholic Church;
- The Communion of Saints;
- The Forgiveness of sins;
- The Resurrection of the body,
- And the Life everlasting.
- Amen.
Vison grew out of Wesleyan/Methodist tradition. Through an interaction of the Bible, tradition, reason and personal experience, we recognize that people may hold those beliefs differently. That means we think truth is more like an essay question than a fill-in-the-blank quiz. Vision is a safe place where you can ask any question, express your doubts, and hold your own opinions. We are committed to our personal spiritual relationship with God and also to our social responsibilities as disciples.
